"There might have been a 3rd attendee - but technology failed - incomplete phone message. We talked about doing research to obtain what might legally be impeachable offenses. One person works in a library - expects to be able to accumulate that information. Other person might get positive response from local activist who does the Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Library. Our viewpoint is that while Congress does not act in The People's interest/s, we nevertheless will keep the issue forward; that we are more necessary now than every. We're told people 'just want to get over it' whatever new and old horror 'it' is. We don't accept that. We want to keep the illegalities, the lies, the horrors in front of us, to be reckoned with."
We the people have the right, through our elected representatives in Congress, to impeach executives and judges who commit high crimes and misdemeanors. We believe that Bush, Cheney, and many of their appointees are guilty of such. They have lied us into an illegal and unjust war, permitted the outing of a valuable CIA agent (Valerie Plame) and violated international law and the Geneva Convention by the use of weapons against civilians, illegal detention, and torture.
We are meeting with East Bay Congresspeople to let them know that their constitutents want the House of Representatives to impeach Bush and Cheney. We are also introducing impeachment resolutions into city councils and county boards of supervisors, with the plan of taking this to the California State Legislature, and thence directly to the floor of the US House, bypassing the Republican--controlled Judiciary Committee. We are urging support of Conyers' Resolutions for censure and impeachment of the President and Vice President.
